(RNN) - ESPN and the Southeastern Conference have finalized a 12-year deal that includes the Big 12 Conference, according to a news release from the SEC Office.

The agreement starts in January 2015 with the game between the two league champions. It will include rights to the Sugar Bowl across ESPN's platforms through 2026, the league said.

The game will be played in prime time on Jan. 1 each year.

According to the release, ESPN will have the rights to the Sugar Bowl each year regardless of the postseason bowl rotation, and those rights include TV, ESPN Radio, ESPN Mobile TV and on smartphones, tables, online and XBox LIVE. ESPN will have rights to distribute the game on ESPN 3D.
