ATLANTA, GA (CBS ATLANTA/ AP) - A new community center will continue the social legacy of Martin Luther King, Sr.
Known as Daddy King, the father of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. was pastor of Atlanta's famed Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was influential in the push to repeal Atlanta's Jim Crow laws. The elder King stressed that education and self-reliance were instruments of change.
The new $8 million Martin Luther King, Sr. Community Resources Complex will pass that lesson on to today's generations. Just a block from Ebenezer, it will host computer literacy courses, financial planning seminars and other programs.
