Shoppers camp out at Best Buy in Buckhead on Thanksgiving morning
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
While many families are gathered around the dining room table this Thanksgiving Day, some are choosing to spend the holiday in line. They want to be among the first in the doors when stores open on Black Friday.
At Best Buy in Buckhead, several shoppers were literally camped out Thursday morning, sleeping in tents or sitting in chairs waiting for the doors to open at midnight.
"It's kind of cold but it's ok," said one man. "I am from India, and I'm experiencing the excitement, which we don't have such kind of things back home."
He got in line at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday hoping to score a 40-inch television.
"It's only $179. It's usually around $500, so I'm getting a good deal," he said.
"I like the hunt for the sale, and I just like the whole game," said Dayshell Crump. She came for a 55-inch 3-D television with a home theater. The set normally retails for $2200. It's on sale on Black Friday for $799.
Crump said she's not upset that she's missing Thanksgiving with her family.
"They're going to save me a plate," she said.
