Christmas comes early for homeless in Atlanta

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Christmas will come a bit early for homeless women at Atlanta's Nicholas House Shelter.

Tuesday, local cosmetic company Mocha Moon donated beauty cases stuffed with makeup and personal care items to the women.

Mocha Moon creator Lori Louis said she wanted to give back because of her struggles as a young mother.

"My children and I could have been homeless at any time," Louis said.

To pay forward some of the assistance she received, Louis formed a nonprofit organization called J&J Women's Resources.  And in 2009, she co-founded The Beauty & Books Program with her friend Nolana Bibbs.

The group's outreach includes workshops at women's shelters and donations to other programs that improve the lives of women and children.
