ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A would-be drug store burglar is in jail thanks to a tip from an alert citizen in northeast Atlanta early Wednesday morning.

Atlanta Police Capt. Adam Lee III said officers received a report of a prowler at the Tuxedo Pharmacy and Gifts store on West Wieuca Road at around 1:45 a.m.

The suspect had thrown a brick through the front door to gain entry and was trying to steal prescription pain medications when police arrived. He ran out the back door and led officers on a pursuit into a nearby apartment complex where he was apprehended, Lee said.

No one was injured in the incident. Police said they believe the suspect is wanted in connection with similar burglaries across the metro area.

The suspect's name has not been released.
