Cherokee County detectives arrested a Creekview High School teacher who allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Authorities said Adam Blake Bearden, 31, was charged with four counts of sexual assault.

The Cherokee County School system notified the sheriff's office about the allegations on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Detectives searched Bearden's Ball Ground home on Tuesday.

According to reports, the relationship took place off campus over a three-month period.

Bearden turned himself in to detectives Wednesday afternoon.

The superintendent released a statement:

"Blake Bearden, a Creekview High School special education teacher, was reassigned to a non-school worksite prior to the start of classes this morning due to a criminal investigation underway by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office.

Bearden was hired by CCSD in July 2009 as a paraprofessional and began working as a teacher in July 2010."
