If you're out shopping at Lenox Square Mall this holiday season, you might run into a very interesting item. How about an 8-foot buck statue?
Twenty artistic bucks have been on display throughout Buckhead for the past six months, but now they're up for auction. Multiple local artists took on the challenge of decorating the giant statues.
Its part of the project "Bucks on the Street." Proceeds go to Livable Buckhead, which creates parks and trails in the Buckhead area, which is known for being full of concrete.
Donna Cain is co chair of the Bucks on the Street project. She said creating more green space for Buckhead is crucial. "Wherever you are you want to have some nice quiet place to go sit. We all live in concrete jungles sometimes and it's nice to go sit on a quiet green space," said Cain.
You can check out the bucks on the top floor of the mall. They'll be on display and open for bidding until the end of the year.
To place your order, go to www.bucksonthestreet.org. The starting bid for each buck is $250, and each eight-foot statue has a "buy it now" price of $5,000. If a winning bid exceeds $1,000, the amount above that is a charitable donation and is tax deductible.
