FBI, local authorities searching for serial bank robber

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

FBI agents and local authorities from Lithonia and Snellville are looking for a serial bank robber.

According to investigators, the robber has struck four banks in the last five weeks.

The latest robbery occurred Monday at the Suntrust Bank inside the Publix on Scenic Highway in Snellville. Investigators say he announced he was robbing the bank while holding a gun. He was observed getting into an off-white in color Lincoln sedan with tinted windows and driving off at a high rate of speed.

On the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 26, the suspect, armed with a handgun, entered the Best Bank inside the Kroger grocery store on Covington Highway in Lithonia. The suspect was close to getting away, but somehow dropped the bag containing the money.

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, the suspect entered the Best Bank located inside of the Walmart on Fairington Road in Lithonia and then took off with an undisclosed amount cash. Ten days later, he returned to the Best Bank inside the Kroger on Covington Highway and this time took off with the cash.

The robber is described as a black male, mid-20s in age, medium build, medium height, wearing a blue ball cap with white logo and a blue hoodie-style jacket.
