STOCKBRIDGE, GA (CBS46) -

The Stockbridge City Council named a new mayor, a mayor pro tem and a new council member on Wednesday.

The changes come following council members vote on Monday to oust Mayor Lee Stuart on Monday.

Stuart is accused of violating employees' civil rights by spying on their emails, disclosing confidential information and violating open records laws.

"I'm not a me, myself and I guy," said Mark Alacron, the former mayor pro tem who was voted in as mayor.  "It's a we, and us and all of us.  It takes a body to get anything done."

Alacron promised to work closely with fellow council members.

"Collaboration is my first goal because that way we as a team will be successful for the majority."

The council also promoted Richard Steinberg to the position of mayor pro tem and elected Shirley Dabney to fill Steinberg's open seat. She is a former Stockbridge council member.

"We've been through a little bit of a rough period, but we'll get through it," Dabney told CBS Atlanta News. "It's going to be great."

As for the previous mayor's next step, Stuart denies the charges and his attorneys have filed an appeal.

Sources told CBS Atlanta News Stuart may also face criminal charges for allegedly violating the state's wiretapping laws, his oath of office and possibly other laws by secretly recording a meeting of city officials.

CBS Atlanta News was told a grand jury will convene on Friday to hear evidence in the criminal case.
