ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

According to Hawkins Law Firm, former Atlanta Falcons star Jamal Anderson entered a plea of guilty to reckless driving Monday morning in the State Court of DeKalb County.

Anderson was arrested in June and charged with driving under the influence.

The prosecutor dismissed the DUI charge after Anderson's defense lawyer, Michael Hawkins, filed a series of pre-trial legal challenges in the case, according to a release from Hawkins.

Anderson was sentenced to 12 months of probation, which can become non-reporting once he completes 64 hours of community service, pays a $700 fine, completes a risk reduction defensive driving program and attends a MADD victim impact panel.

"I want to thank everyone who has supported me through this difficult time," Anderson said. "From day one I have maintained my innocence to the DUI charge, and I am glad that charge was dismissed."
