FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A former Fulton County police officer was found guilty on Thursday on two counts of aggravated child molestation.

Michael Wilson, 32, was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison after a jury returned a guilty verdict on two of three counts.

"We are dedicated to protecting our citizens from all predators," said District Attorney Robert James. "He was in a position or respect and trust. It is truly alarming that an individual tasked with protecting the public has violated his oath of office and became the predator himself. Justice was served today."

Wilson was arrested in November 2010, accused of molesting a 12-year-old girl.

According to Wilson's arrest report, he assaulted the child more than once, and held her against her will.
