DACULA, GA (CBS46) -

Police are searching for the thieves who broke into a gun shop and stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of firearms.

David Duncan, who owns the Big Gun Armory, said crooks smashed through the glass storefront just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

"They were probably in there two to two and half minutes," Duncan said.

The thieves stole at least 45 pistols and tactical rifles worth about $60,000 in total.

Duncan said whoever took the weapons can make a lot more cash from them on the street.

"These guns, in the right hands, they can bring in a lot more money than I can sell them for in here," Duncan said. "If thieves want something you've got, they're gonna get it, no matter what."

Police said it is difficult to find out where the stolen weapons eventually may wind up who may get their hands on them or in how much more danger the average person in metro Atlanta may be.
