FORSYTH COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A doe was rescued from a water retention pond on Wednesday at a Forsyth County wastewater treatment plant after she was unable to climb up the pond's angled walls.

Workers at the plant first spotted the doe in the pond on Monday. When they came back to work on Wednesday, they noticed she was still stuck in the pond, so they called for help, according to Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers.

Forsyth County firefighters and animal control workers came out to the plant around 11 a.m. to help rescue the deer. It took them about two hours to get the doe out of the pond using a pole with a loop.

The doe was then set free.

While Forsyth County firefighters have rescued animals before, Shivers said this was the first time they rescued a deer.
