Driver killed in Cherokee County wreck, niece survives

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A Waleska woman was killed in a single-car crash Saturday afternoon near Fincher Road and Ammons Drive in Cherokee County.

Jade King, 24, was driving eastbound on Georgia 108 when her 2004 Volkswagen went off the roadway. King over-corrected, left the pavement and went into a grove of trees according to Georgia State Patrol.

Her vehicle struck several trees. King was killed in the crash. Investigators state she was not wearing a seat belt.

Her niece, Alexis King, 5, survived the crash. Investigators stated that she was properly restrained in a booster seat. Her injuries were cuts to her hands and arms, according to troopers.

The wreck happened around 1:35 p.m. Georgia State Patrol says alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the wreck.
