ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Movie star Mark Wahlberg was in Atlanta Monday night promoting his new movie, Broken City.

Wahlberg and Director Allen Hughes also saluted former Atlanta Falcon Warrick Dunn and Atlanta police veteran Patrick Apoian during an event at Regal Atlantic Station in Midtown.

Dunn, who is known for his work on the gridiron, is also the founder of the Warrick Dunn Charities. He provides programs and services to single parents who are committed to achieving stability for themselves and their children.

Nine-year Atlanta police veteran Apoian founded Humble Heroes. The organization assists police officers, firefighters and their families when they have been seriously injured or become ill.

Wahlberg presented the men with plaques.

Broken City opens in theaters Jan. 18.
