A car theft suspect is recovering in a hospital Thursday morning after he jumped out of a moving vehicle in an attempt to run from DeKalb County police officers.
DeKalb police Lt. Dane Cunningham tells CBS Atlanta News that officers observed two stolen vehicles, a Dodge Caravan and a Dodge Ram, following each other on Candler Road just before 3:30 a.m.
When officers got behind the vehicles, the driver of the Dodge Voyager jumped out of the vehicle and ran in front of it while it was still in motion, according to DeKalb County police. The driver was struck by the vehicle, which continued over an embankment.
The Dodge Ram was later located in the 3300 block of Glenwood Road. A unidentified female suspect was taken into custody.
The unidentified 25-year-old who was struck by the vehicle was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Both are facing auto theft charges.
