Repticon draws thousands with snakes, spiders, lizards and more

If you like snakes and other reptiles, Gwinnett County is the place to be this weekend.

Repticon, the traveling reptile show, is set up at the Gwinnett County Fair Grounds and it has more than 1,000 creepy crawly things to not only see, but play with.

Wendy Kozikowski is manager of Repticon.

"Here in Atlanta it has just blossomed. We started out with the one show and we needed to expand to three," said Kozikowski.

The room was jammed packed with snakes, spiders, lizards and just about anything cold blooded you could imagine.

"Most zoos have very small reptile houses. We do have an entire building with thousands of reptiles here," said Kozikowski.

It's so popular people were lined up at the door to get in.

Austin Guin was there shopping for some geckos.

"They are very different and that makes it appealing," said Guin.

Hunter Lesley is only 13 years old, but isn't afraid of snakes at all.

"I like seeing the different colors and getting to hold a lot of them," said Lesley.

Some people were regulars, looking to add to their collection or make life a little better for their not so furry friend.

"I got everything I needed for my gecko's right here today," said Guin.

Others weren't so much looking to buy anything, just check it all out and learn a little bit.

"It's not boring and you get to actually feel them and do it. When you read it in books you're learning it but you don't have any experience touching them," said Lesley.

If you missed the event on Saturday, you have another chance on Sunday from 10-4. Admission is $10.
