Henry County investigators said on Saturday a McDonough 14-year-old accidentally shot and killed his own brother.
First responders were called to a home on Deer Trace Drive early Saturday in reference to a person shot.
Police say the events unfolded when a friend spent the night at the home with the 14-year-old and his brother. During the course of the evening and early morning hours, they got a hold of a gun in the home and one of them loaded the weapon.
Police say at some point the 14-year-old pointed the gun at his 15-year-old brother, pulled the trigger and struck him in the chest. His brother was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are calling the incident accidental but the case remains under investigation.
The facts will be presented to the district attorney's office for possible prosecution on both the juvenile and the mother.
