ATLANTA, GA (CBS46) -

Atlanta police have arrested a man connected to a weekend shooting and SWAT situation in southeast Atlanta.

On Jan. 19, authorities were called to 377 Corvair Drive at around 10:13 p.m. where a woman and child were reportedly shot.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that only the woman was shot at the location. She identified the shooter as her boyfriend, Jermaine Parker.

The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The child was slightly injured after being dropped by the woman when she was shot.

Both victims were taken to area hospitals and later released.

Authorities say this location is the same as a SWAT situation that happened Sunday morning.

On Jan. 20 at 11:13 a.m., officers responded to a call about a female being held at knife point.  Family members told officers that the female and child were being held by Mr. Parker.

Hostage negotiators convinced Parker to release the child, who was given to family members without injury.

Parker refused to release the female, but the SWAT team used tactics to distract Parker and safely secure her.  She was taken to Grady Hospital for evaluation.

Parker was placed in police custody and faces several charges including aggravated assault and kidnapping.
