ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Residents of Historic Westside Village have a new place to shop.

On Wednesday, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed attended the opening of a new Walmart at 835 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr.

The new store brings around 150 new jobs to the area.

Customers are encouraged to come to the store to take advantage of events and promotions, including product samplings and giveaways from companies such as Coca-Cola, Frito-Lay and Nestle.

The Arthur Blank Foundation will be giving away gift certificates for healthy meals, Kellogg's will be giving away cereal bowls and Sarah Lee will be handing out loaves of bread.

The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile will be on hand throughout the weekend.

"My team and I are thrilled to have this opportunity to serve as good stewards of the community," said Store Manager Quincy L.A. Springs, IV. "We are excited to provide groceries, produce and general merchandise to our community so they can save money and live better."

The 75,000-square-foot story will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
