Police in Alpharetta are searching for a gunman who, they say, shot and killed a man in the Whitestone Ridge community Monday evening.
Alpharetta police say they received an emergency call from a male who stated he had just witnessed a shooting.
Officers and emergency crews responded to a townhouse located within the Whitestone Ridge community at about 6:24 p.m. and discovered a male victim who had been shot once in the lower stomach.
The victim was taken to North Fulton Hospital, where he later died.
Alpharetta police are conducting an investigation to determine the identity of the suspect.
Despite the violent occurrence in the otherwise peaceful town home community, one resident said the event does nothing to change her outlook on the safety of the area.
"I'm not personally concerned at all, I feel comfortable, safe," said Cheryl Zellner, who says she has lived in the community for 13 years. "I don't think we have anything to worry about. I think (the suspect) knew who he was looking for, and why he was there."
As of Tuesday morning, Alpharetta Police Spokesman George Gordon did not have any new details to share on the investigation.
