The Paulding County School District got a late Christmas present Friday night that was worth the wait.
Organizers with the Patch's "Deck the House" contest gave school officials a check for $100,000. They presented the check at Paulding High School's basketball game.
"It's just really a great thing to give this much money to the school system ... you know, it's good because we can definitely use it," said Joey Felix, who's responsible for helping the school get the money.
Felix and his wife, who are from Dallas, won the national contest for their holiday lights display. The Felixes received $500 towards their December electric bill and the grand prize for their school district.
