FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Fire investigators were called to the scene of a fire at a large vacant building in south Fulton County that was once the In-Home Suites Hotel.

Crews found the building on Interchange Drive fully involved when they arrived just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters took a defensive approach because of broken gas mains and allowed the hotel to burn itself out until they were able to cap the leaks.

There were no reported injuries at the scene.

Deputy Chief Jack Butler said they don't know yet what caused the fire, but they have an idea.

"Probably was someone, a vagrant, just trying to keep warm, something like that," said Butler.  "From the perspective of the building being boarded up, it was boarded up. But if there's a way for people to get in, they will get in."

He said the hotel had been shut down for about two years.
