Clarkston police search for shooter in video store robbery

CLARKSTON, GA (CBS46) -

A Clarkston store clerk, shot during a robbery at a video store, was recovering at a local hospital as police continued to search for the gunman.

Clarkston police responded to a report of a person shot at T&T Video just before midnight Tuesday. The store appears to carry mostly Korean films. Gambling machines could also be seen inside.

The victim's aunt told officers they were closing up the store when the robber forced his way in, showed a gun and demanded money.

The suspect shot the store clerk, a 19-year-old man, once. The bullet entered the teen's arm and then his stomach. He was taken to Atlanta Medical Center in critical condition. The shooter fled the scene.

The aunt was not injured in the incident.

It was unknown what, if anything, was taken from the store.

Police released little information on possible suspects, but said they planned on looking at surveillance video, captured by a camera from a neighboring store, later Wednesday morning.

Owners of neighboring stores said they had had problems with crime in the area and were worried because the owners of T&T rarely locked their doors.
