Officials in Fayette County say a group of Atlanta investors are in talks with world-renowned Pinewood studios to turn a 288-acre field just west of Fayetteville into the next new home for the London-based studios.
Pinewood has helped produce such blockbusters as the latest James Bond film, The Hobbit, and Les Miserables.
"It's a very big deal," said Fayette County Development Authority CEO Matt Forshee. "Potentially having a facility of this type, this becomes a magnet then for film activity in metro Atlanta, and Fayette County becomes quite the home for film."
Forshee said construction could begin this spring, and the studios could open and become operational early in 2014.
