Grammy-winning artist Ludacris talks latest nomination

Posted: Updated:

Award season is here and on Sunday music will give out its highest honor, the Grammy. It's the equivalent of an Oscar or an Emmy. This year, there are 22 nominees from Georgia. The multi-talented and Grammy award-winning Ludacris is one of them.

He's on the big screen and works with kids in the community. His range includes actor and entrepreneur, but Chris "Ludacris" Bridges is still most comfortable with a mic in hand. His work has been recognized with music's highest honor.

""Man, it's a beautiful thing. The year I won the Grammy for best album was one of the highlights of my life and my career. I say it all the time because I worked specifically to win a Grammy for that album," Ludacris said.

He won two Grammys for Release Therapy that year, and was already a winner for Yeah! with Usher and Li'l Jon.

Ludacris is nominated in the same category this year, for bringing his talents to the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. This time it's with John Legend for Tonight.

"Nowadays artists they don't really get together in the studio. Sometimes you just send songs back and forth. Me and John got a chance to get in the studio, do the video, really chopped it up and we became good friends because of it," Ludacris said.

The song is also featured in Steve Harvey's 2012 movie, Think Like a Man.

"You know it was one of those songs you can see in the movie. I think that because people associated it with such emotional scenes in the movie, it helped the song out even that much more," Ludacris said.

Luda feels this latest Grammy nomination is a nod to his more than a decade in the music industry.

"I think the longevity and the consistency of me being in the music industry for over a decade now it just makes it that much more special when I continuously, you know, and I'm humbly speaking, getting nominated means the world," Ludacris said.

The Grammys are on CBS Atlanta Sunday night at 8 p.m..
