ATLANTA, GA (CBS46) -

Police announced Friday the arrest of pistol packing suspects accused in a wave of carjackings throughout Metro Atlanta.

21-year old Ladarious Gibbs, Brandon Washington and Ronald Washington, 24-year-old Andre Clark and Rapheal Banks, and Derek Turner,19, are all charged with robbery and carjacking.

Police said the 6 are accused of at least six carjackings in Atlanta and investigators believe they may be responsible for more.

"The biggest message here is that we have taken several violent offenders off our streets," said Atlanta Police Chief George Turner.

Investigators are also looking at the possibility that the six may be involved in armed pedestrian robberies as well.

Greg Maddock couldn't believe two of the suspect's alleged victims, who were not together, were carjacked on the same day within minutes in the parking lot at the Fulton County Library on Northside Parkway.

"When I hear stuff like that I'm mortified," said Maddock.

Police said the men face additional charges in Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties.
