Two Northwest Atlanta businesses hit in overnight smash-and-grab

ATLANTA (CBS46) -
Owners of two Northwest Atlanta businesses will spend Wednesday cleaning up following early morning smash-and-grab's.
Atlanta Police Captain Tim Peek told CBS Atlanta News that an officer on regular patrol passed by a strip mall on Huff Road around 1:30 a.m. and heard a loud alarm. When the officer approached the building, he saw that two storefront doors had been smashed in using a brick.
Police have contacted the owners of "Interiors by Consignment" and "Urban Pl8" in order to determine what was taken. Peek said it appeared only a cash register had been taken from one business, but it was unclear how much money it contained.
Peek also said the businesses have surveillance cameras and police would be reviewing the footage Wednesday to try to identify the suspects.
Just a week ago, a third business on Huff Road, Corner Tavern, was also targeted in a smash-and-grab. In that case, the thieves used a vehicle to try to get inside but were scared off before succeeding. The business did, however, sustain damage.
Peek said police, at this point, do not believe the cases are linked, since last week's incident involved a car, and a brick was used in the most recent smash-and-grab's.
There have been no arrests in any of the incidents.
