KSU students willing to pay football fees

KENNESAW, GA (CBS46) -

Kennesaw State University will soon have a new football team and the student body is pumped.

Georgia's third largest university made the announcement Thursday.

But the team comes with a cost.

From now on, students will pay $100 a semester.

Students CBS Atlanta News spoke with a day after the big news were not concerned about the fees.

SGA president Rosalyn Hedepeth, who sat through negotiations, is by far the most excited about KSU's new team.

"I can't wait to come back wear my KSU black and gold and yell to the top of my lungs, 'Go Owls,'" Hedepeth said.

Hedepeth credits school administrators for their transparency during the process and explaining the fees to the students.

The student leader claims once KSU secured Fifth Third Bank as a financial backer, students didn't mind paying their share.

"That lets the students know that the administration wants to partner and get as many funds in as possible and not just use all of the students money," Hedepeth said.

Hedepeth said KSU is no longer the tiny commuter college it once was.
