If you feel like you're spending more to fill up, you're right.
Average retail gasoline prices in Atlanta rose 16.8 cents per gallon over the last week, averaging $3.69 per gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 2,134 gas outlets in Atlanta.
The national average increased 11.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.68 per gallon.
Prices Sunday were 16.2 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 41 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
"The steady climb of retail gas prices is likely to continue following
double-digit increases in wholesale prices with fuel production
tightening in the majority of the country's refineries," said
GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski. "Los Angeles has
climbed to $4.28 per gallon with a 55-cent average price increase in the
past month, and that rate was surpassed in Chicago ($4.09 average
price) and Detroit ($3.86 per gallon average), where motorists saw 63-
and 64-cent respective increases over the same period. New York crossed
the $4 threshold too."
Michael Hill owns a landscaping business which keeps him traveling on metro Atlanta roads. He thought about raising the prices he charges his customers.
"You want to go up, but you can't because you have customers that have just been there for so long, you just can't go up every time the gas goes up every year, every season," said Hill. "You can't keep going up."
Hill said he's been trying to trim his bottom line by combining trips.
"Once you go out, try and put three or four jobs together that day if possible," he said.
