DENVER (CNN/CBS46) -

A Colorado woman says she was refused a massage because of her size.

Laura Smith was training for a half marathon in May, and thought it would be a great idea to get a massage the day after the marathon.

She booked an appointment at Natural Healing Center.

Smith said the doctor came into the room and said, "I'm sorry but you're too fat for our tables.
You're going to probably break a table and then you'd have to pay for it."

Smith told a KDVR reporter that she was in tears that day. She just couldn't understand.

Smith is 6'3" and dropped to 250 recently. She has had massages before.

"I mean I'm not tiny, I know that, but I'm working on it," Smith told the KDVR reporter.

The owner of natural healing wouldn't talk on camera to KDVR.

The owner said she called Smith "large, not fat" and she worried a table might collapse because one had broken under a 165-pound man.
