Driver struck by train in Douglasville

DOUGLASVILLE, GA (CBS46) -

Authorities in Douglasville said a truck driver was taken to the hospital after he was struck by a train.

Police said the Norfolk Southern train hit the truck along Brown Street at Broad Street.

CBS Atlanta News reporter Harry Samler spoke to officers on scene.

They told Samler that driver is from South Carolina. He tried to beat the train with the crossing arm down. 

The man was driving on a suspended license, according to police.

He was taken to the hospital.

Police are charging him with driving with a suspended license and crossing the tracks illegally.
