Police find student with brass knuckles at northeast Atlanta school

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A school in northeast Atlanta was put on lockdown Monday morning after police were told a student had a gun on campus.

It happened at The Intown Academy, which includes grades K-8, on Pine Street around 10 a.m., according to police.

A student called one of their parents, saying a fellow student had brought a gun to school. That parent then called police and then the school was placed on lockdown.

After investigating the incident, police found that the student had brought brass knuckles to school, not a gun, police said.

No guns were found on campus, and no one was hurt.

Police found both the student and the brass knuckles, but did not release that student's age.

The Intown Academy is a public, community-based charter school that has more than 300 students.
