ATLANTA, GA (CBS46) -

An elderly man and two cats were rescued from a DeKalb County apartment fire Sunday morning.

Around 11 a.m. the DeKalb County Fire Department responded to a call about a fire at the Lake Louise Apartments located at 3450 Evans Rd off Henderson Mill Road.

They arrived to find the cats and man, who has a prosthetic leg, trapped inside his first floor apartment.  Battalion Chief for the DeKalb County Fire Department, Christopher Morrison, said the cats had to be resuscitated.

There are four apartments in the building where the fire occurred.  Two of those were a total loss.  Other apartments in that building suffered smoke and water damage.

Authorities said nearly a dozen people were displaced.
