Fayetteville seniors hold meeting following several burglaries

Posted: Updated:

Residents at a Fenwyck subdivision in Fayetteville are looking for ways to help prevent any more burglaries in their neighborhood.

Officers said the recent rash of crimes aren't typical and they are concerned.

Nine homes were targeted in just a few hours on February and six others back in January.

Prior to the Tuesday night meeting, residents told CBS Atlanta News they planned to discuss the possibility of hiring private security.

Several officers with the Fayetteville Police Department attended the meeting to answer questions and update their investigation.

Police asked the media not to come inside the meeting held at a community clubhouse, to help keep the information confidential.

After the meeting, Detective Mike Whitlow told CBS Atlanta News that he was concerned about the bold nature of the bandit but he also said the bandit should be concerned as well.

"These days homeowners have weapons. Homeowners have dogs. So it's dangerous for the bad guy as well," said Whitlow.
