MARIETTA, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Two people are dead in Marietta and police said it was the result of a murder and a suicide.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Gateview Way Road around 10 a.m. Sunday on a reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival police found Kay Cornell Janus, 72, dead in the garage of her home.

Henry Harlan Wooten, 70, of Acworth, was found deceased at another location just up the street.

The investigation revealed that Wooten shot Janus in the garage and left the scene on foot.

Witnesses told police they saw Wooten leaving Janus' home and walk towards another part of the subdivision, where he was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.

According to authorities, Wooten and Janus were involved in a long term relationship.

A neighbor, who did not want to give his name, said the two were married and were going through and ugly divorce.

"He was very, very, very upset, that is an understatement, that she divorced him and kicked him out of the house and was almost a pauper-and he wanted to get his wedding ring back," said the neighbor.

The neighbor said Wooten was broke and the wedding ring would have been the only way for him to get money.
