Ex-city worker used city credit card for psychic web site

Posted: Updated:

A metro Atlanta man has pleaded guilty to five counts of false statements for using a city-issued purchase card to buy a psychic web site and software for his personal business.

Fulton County District Attorney's Spokeswoman Yvette Jones says 49-year-old Brad Williams, former information technology director for the city of Fairburn, has been sentenced to five years of probation and is ordered to pay $17,500 in restitution.

Jones says Williams used the city-issued card for unauthorized purchases then tried to disguise them as legitimate transactions on monthly requisition forms.

Jones says city officials became suspicious of Williams in 2009 and an investigation revealed he had been making fraudulent purchases since 2005.

Williams is ordered not to hold public office while on probation and must pay restitution by the end of May.
