ATLANTA, GA (CBS46) -

Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas stopped in Atlanta Friday night to sign copies of her new book. The event took place at the Shrine of the Black Madonna Bookstore in Southwest Atlanta.

During a Q-and-A session, the gymnast talked about her experiences since the Summer Olympics in London and how she almost quit months before the games.

"Gymnastics is a tough sport, but sometimes when I'm a little down my coaches or my support system just keeps me going," Douglas told the crowd.

"Whenever I had a bad day, they're just like it's normal to have a bad day. You're just human. So, it happens sometimes, but we have a choice to pick ourselves up or we have a decision to quit, and I just stuck with it."

Douglas is promoting her new memoir Grace, Gold and Glory: My Leap of Faith.
