GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

The Department of Natural Resources, Gwinnett Fire and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division investigated the source of a mysterious white foam floating on the Alcovy River Saturday.

The soapy-like substance was floating downstream on the water between the Cedars Road area and Brooks Road in Lawrenceville.

Investigators said the foam is non-hazardous and non-toxic. They also said they are not sure how the soapy material ended up in the river or who is responsible.

It may take sometime before the substance dilutes completely into the water.
