Metro Atlanta residents took part in a bone marrow drive Sunday to help save the life of a 12-year-old girl born with Sickle Cell Anemia.
Valaria Fenderson is in need of a bone marrow transplant to cure her disease. Like 70 percent of patients who need a marrow transplant, Valaria does not have a family member whose tissue-type matches hers.
She and others depend on the Be The Match Registry to get a second chance at life.
The registration drive was co-sponsored by Ousley United Methodist Church in Lithonia and the CDC.
