COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

One person was injured when a fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a Cobb County apartment complex.

The fire broke out around 4:34 a.m. at Harmony Meadows Apartments on South Cobb Drive.  Six minutes later, the first crew arrived on scene.

Investigators said one resident suffered from smoke inhalation. One firefighter sustained a knee injury, but was released from the hospital after being treated.

A unique circumstance may have led to people waking up before the fire got out of control.

"The person that called said that she heard the baby crying, so I don't know if alarms went off, and woke the baby up, but the baby woke her up, and everyone got out," said Cobb Fire Department spokeswoman Denell Boyd.

Red Cross volunteers provided food, clothing and temporary lodging to 20 residents displaced by the eight unit fire.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
