ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Three people were injured after an SUV went off a bridge in downtown Atlanta and fell 50 feet to the ground.

It happened Wednesday evening on the bridge on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near the intersection of Spring Street, according to Atlanta police.

Police said the victims were all conscious and breathing when they were taken to the hospital. Officers later said all three suffered minor injuries.

Officers said the driver, Gregory Major, suffered a seizure causing his Jeep Liberty to go off the bridge.

Passenger James Fisher told police that it seemed like Major just passed out.

The SUV was traveling eastbound when it crossed traffic, went through the guardrail and off the bridge.

On the way down, the SUV hit a tree and then landed on a concrete barrier. The area below the bridge was a parking lot that was mostly empty.

One lane of the westbound side of the bridge is closed for crews to repair the guardrail.

Police said Major is an unlicensed driver and he received a citation.
