A DeKalb County man found guilty for raping and attempting to rape five DeKalb County women was sentenced to eight consecutive life sentences plus an additional 135 years behind bars.
Gary Mincey, 36, was sentenced Tuesday after hearing a statement from one of his victims.
Prosecutors said Mincey assaulted, robbed and raped various women during a six-week span in 2011.
They said he used weapons to force the victims to comply. Mincey also robbed his victims.
"This sentence sends a strong and resounding message that we will not stand for women being victimized here in DeKalb County," said DeKalb County Chief Assistant District Attorney Nicole Marchand Golden.
Mincey was convicted of 17 felony counts including aggravated assault, armed robbery, burglary, false imprisonment, aggravated sexual battery and rape.
