3 soldiers assigned to a GA base are killed in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (CBS46) -

Three soldiers assigned to Fort Stewart were killed April 6 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, according to a Department of Defense press release.

The soldiers died from wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.

Those killed were Staff Sgt. Christopher M. Ward, 24, of Oak Ridge, TN, Spc. Wilbel A. Robles-Santa, 25, of Juncos, Puerto Rico, and Spc. Deflin M. Santos Jr., 24, of San Jose, CA. 

They were assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA.
