FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Volunteers picked up tons of trash along the Chattahoochee River in Fulton County on Saturday.

Some volunteers walked while others used kayaks to get debris floating in the water during the Sweep the Hooch event.

Volunteers picked up water bottles, paper and shoes during the cleanup. One volunteer discovered a black rat snake in an abandoned tire. He ended up returning it to the wild.

Last year, volunteers picked up more than three tons of trash along the Chattahoochee.
