Lawrenceville Highway now open after DeKalb County gas leak

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

According to the DeKalb Fire Department, Lawrenceville Highway is now open from Orion Drive and Church Street after a gas leak.

About 10 to 12 businesses were evacuated just before 1:30 p.m.

A construction crew hit the gas line while repairing a water line. Crews found several other breaks while making repairs.

The accident left area business owners frustrated.

Most depend heavily on foot traffic and passing drivers for business and with three major roadways closed, business suffered.

"I'm about to close my store and go home because there is no business," said video store owner, Mohsin Sonani.

CBS Atlanta News listened as Sonani worked the phones to let his customers know he was still open.

It did little good as his normally busy Bollywood video store remained empty.
