ATHENS, GA (CBS46) -

A 19-year-old who was hit by a truck in Athens on Feb. 16 continues her recovery.

Emily Bowman returned to Shepherd Center on Wednesday following shunt surgery at Athens Regional Medical Center on Monday.

Bowman, a former Kennesaw State University student, was transferred to Shepherd Center on March 8 following a brain injury.

During her stay at Shepherd Center, a CT scan indicated excess fluid in Bowman's brain.

Doctors decided to place a shunt to help drain the fluid in her brain.

Bowman is expected to discharge from Shepherd Center by the end of April.

"She will then begin home health therapy services and will have outpatient medical follow-up to monitor her for continued progress," said Bowman's physician at Shepherd Center.
