Atlanta residents react to latest Boston bombing news

Posted: Updated:

Many Atlanta residents have been glued to their televisions waiting for the latest developments in the Boston bombings. Some local restaurants have tuned their TV sets to news programs so that their customers can watch.

CBS Atlanta anchor reporter Bernard Watson spoke to some customers at Thumbs Up Diner on Marietta Street in Midtown Atlanta.

"It is pure horror. How can it be? I turned on the news and heard about all that shooting in Boston last night, and I couldn't believe it. I mean it is just awful and then we've been watching it off and on since. I know one of the suspects is dead and I hope they catch the other," said Jeanne Brown.

"This is not what many people anticipated. The suspects do not have Middle Eastern faces and this is not what you are getting here. So it brings the community together to look at the silver lining of it. We are all humans and the response has been remarkable. And it shows you how quickly the government can work to kind of figure out what has gone on so those are the positives about it. But I think it makes us look broader at what we think the face of terror is, and then we have to refuse to be terrorized," said Nzinga Harrison.
