GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Gwinnett County police are searching for a rape suspect.

Thursday morning, the Gwinnett County Police SWAT team attempted to arrest Joseph Tyler Sivonda, 23, at his apartment just behind Beaver Ridge Elementary School on Castor Drive.

Sivonda, who was not home, is wanted on charges of armed robbery, aggravated sodomy and rape.

According to the Gwinnett County police report, Tuesday night, three woman stopped at a gas station on their way to a friend's house. While they were there, a woman asked for a ride and they gave one to her.

When they got to the woman's apartment, they saw Sivonda sitting on the steps and one of the women asked to use his bathroom.

The woman told police that when she walked into the apartment, it was empty and she felt uneasy so she turned around to leave.

That's when Sivonda pointed a gun at the woman and robbed her and threatened to kill her.

After Sivonda went through the victim's bag, police said he forced the victim to perform a sexual act and then left.

Anyone with information on Sivonda is asked to call the GCPD Robbery Unit at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-557-TIPS (8477).
