STEPHENS COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Three were killed after their car was struck by a train Friday night in northeast Georgia.

The Georgia Department of Safety told CBS Atlanta that the accident happened around 10 p.m. in Stephens County.

Troopers said the crash was between a passenger car and a train on Summit Ridge Road near Rock Quarry Circle. The train struck the vehicle on the driver's side. The car was pushed off the tracks where it overturned several times, caught fire and was engulfed in flames.

One person was ejected from the vehicle. All three victims have been taken to the crime lab for identification.

The train was an Amtrak passenger train, and the crossing is posted with stop signs.
